Creative collective SXWKS takes us on a journey through sound, tracing the cultural impact of Black diasporic movement on our musical landscape. SXWKS is a London-based creative collective using the power of a group to share artistic projects with their community. More than a collective, they are connected by their refusal to relegate their artistic engagement to just a spare-time activity, maintaining it as a core part of their everyday existence. The event takes its inspiration from the chapters of Ekow Eshun’s book In the In the Black Fantastic: The Art of Afrofuturism,, which is published to coincide with the exhibition he has curated at the Hayward Gallery.
