The Cécile Fakhoury Gallery – Dakar announced the 1st solo exhibition of the artist Rachel Marsil, entitled “I would like to see myself in your eyes”. Rachel Marsil immerses us in an intimate and colorful universe on the border between memories and dreams. A set of elastic silhouettes inhabits the space of the canvases. Those who know the artist may recognize her face, as the canvas is like a mirror in which it’s possible to explore one’s identity: each scene is an opportunity to reinvent a memory. For Rachel Marsil, painting is an opportunity to tell a more significant personal story. Through objects, scenery, and nature, the artist invites us to listen, share and contemplate at the center of an intersubjective reflection that unfolds from the personal to the collective.
