Celebrating its 21st edition, SCOPE Miami Art Show returns to honor its mission to provide a platform for experiential innovation and discovery and welcome 150+ diverse contemporary exhibitors featuring new contemporary art.
The 193 Gallery was born in 2018 out of a consuming passion for art, travel, and discovery, offering a true experience in the colors of cultures and countries from around the world. Its mission is to help you discover the diversity of the contemporary art world through South East Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Oceania, and others.
The artists Sesse Elangwe Ngeseli, Thandiwe Muriu, Cedric Tchinan, and Ken Nwadiogbu will represent the 193 Gallery.
Based in the United States, Sesse Elangwe is originally from Cameroon and, more precisely, from its anglophone zone in conflict since 2016. His paintings reflect his experiences, hopes, and aspirations in the society in which he lives. His work focuses on the inseparable relationship between human existence and conversations. Without these conversations, the world would come to a standstill. His art must be seen as a call to action so the audience can engage in positive thoughts and conversations to liberate society.
Thandiwe Muriu is a photographer born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. As a female artist operating in a previously male-dominated field, she takes us on a journey to discover the Kenyan woman’s recipes of pride and strength. In her series CAMO, Thandiwe celebrates her African heritage and addresses important issues such as identity and self-perception. A colorful banner that advocates acceptance and love for what makes up the daily lives of Nairobi’s residents.
Cedric Tchinan has always been fascinated by the world in motion and the interactions between human beings. For the artist, the line represents this fragile link that connects us. Thus, he uses expressive and straightforward writing, close to the scribbling, the optical effect putting in his sensitivity and the aesthetics of his work.
Ken Nwadiogbu is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in Lagos, Nigeria. A trained civil engineer, he soon pivoted to fine art, embracing hyperrealism and charcoal drawing before expanding his creative horizon to more conceptual works and a more comprehensive array of techniques, including acrylic painting, sculpture, and installation. On Nwadiogbu’s large canvases, stories superimpose themselves in multiple layers.
From November 29 to December 4, 2022, SCOPE Art Show returns to South Beach’s iconic Ocean Drive between 8th and 10th Avenues at 801 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
