The section aims to highlight artists who will be tomorrow’s leading names. The series of works shown at the solo booth is called Mantakassa, Limp, and no memory. It is a homage to the depiction of the beggar. During her residency at the Albers Foundation in South West Cork, Ireland, Namoda was fascinated by the deep and tragic history of the potato famine that had ruptured so many lives and forced migration. The reality the Global South faces today is an ominous one – food scarcity, dangerous migrations, and threatening weather patterns have been the subject of our concerns. It felt natural to Namoda to paint these depictions as a dovetailing of two accounts.

Simultaneously, Goodman Gallery will host a group presentation including works by Cassi Namoda, Yinka Shonibare CBE RA, William Kentridge, ruby onyinyechi amanze, Misheck Masamvu, Yto Barrada, Naama Tsabar, Kudzanai Chiurai, Nolan Oswald Dennis, Jabulani Dhlamini, Clive van den Berg, Mikhael Subotzky, Remy Jungerman, Nicholas Hlobo, Candice Breitz, David Goldbatt, and Leonardo Drew.
