Akinola Taoheed is a multidisciplinary artist, born in Lagos, Nigeria (2000). He studies Art Education at the University of Nigeria (NSUKKA). Akinola’s art embodies themes that resonate with his journey as a Nigerian man and the world surrounding him. In several of his paintings, he employs a technique that renders facial features with a subtle, almost blurred quality, evoking a sense of mystery.

Kevin Johnson is a Colorado-based painter, concept artist, graphic designer, sculptor, and animator known for his striking employment of vibrant colors and depictions of everyday people progressing, and evolving through life.

Kevin, best known for his vibrant and evocative portraits of black individuals, and Akinola, whose work explores the African experience and identity, are making significant contributions to the contemporary art scene.

The exhibition aims to highlight contemporary black art’s evolution and influence in today’s art world. ‘Kindred’ is a thought-provoking and visually stunning exhibition with the purpose of leaving visitors with a newfound appreciation for the richness and diversity of black art in America.

BAIA Gallery is a multifaceted arts company based in Atlanta Georgia. Since 2010, their mission has been to document, preserve and promote the contributions of the African American arts community.
