Galerie Number 8 returns to 1-54 Art Fair New York with a collection of works by the New Genz of African Diaspora Artists: from the utopian Pan-Africanism of Delali Ayivi & Togo Yeye, Djeneba Aduayom’s surreal reflections on humanity to Mar+VIN’s beauty as resistance.

Djeneba Aduayom, currently based in Southern California, is a former professional dancer who turned photographer and director. The artist incorporates her passion for movement and emotive performances into her visual work. Drawing inspiration from her multicultural background, her art explores inner worlds and personal experiences, inviting viewers to interpret and create their universe.

Delali Ayivi is dedicated to diversifying images of black communities. Born in the US and raised in Germany, Delali began photographing friends and family in Germany, Togo, and Malawi. Discovering the work of her great-great-grandfather, Togolese photographer Alex A. Acolatse, inspired Delali to focus on documenting people in fashion.

Mar+Vin is a São Paulo-based duo of fashion photographers consisting of Marcos Florentino and Kelvin Yule. They have gained recognition for their unique photographic style that explores Brazilian roots, blackness, and the redefinition of beauty in the 21st century. Their work serves as a form of resistance, using beauty to challenge racism prevalent in Brazilian society and advocating against discrimination towards the LGBTQ+ community.

Galerie Number 8 brings together a new generation of photographers, mainly from the African diaspora and global south. The gallery celebrates artists who fearlessly confront cultural barriers and defy traditional notions of sexuality.
