LatchKey Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Josie Love Roebuck at 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair New York.
Josie Love Roebuck, born in 1995, is a textile-based artist who works mainly with the figure. As a biracial – adopted into a white family – raised in the South of the USA, Josie’s work wrestles with finding her identity, from being told she is not white enough or too black. Her works guide you through her growth, life experiences, and the ultimate discovery of the self without influence.
Roebuck is currently a faculty member at the University of Cincinnati, where she completed her MFA in 2021. Before that, she obtained her BFA focusing on drawing and painting from the University of Georgia in 2019.
LatchKey Gallery supports emerging artists who challenge historical narratives, helping shape cultural conversations to create a more diverse and dynamic society that reflects the complexity of our world.
