Christa David (b. 1979), initially a public health researcher, transitioned into a career as a collage artist and painter. She primarily uses paper and glue as her mediums to depict the narratives of Black and Brown individuals in a visually engaging manner. Christa’s meticulous artistry, a fusion of dream and reality, serves as a canvas for her to express her thoughts and emotions. Her pieces’ characters carry the weight of her messages. She constructs a record, journeying from her own experiences towards a broader, communal memory. By doing this, she effectively brings her narratives to life, translating them into visual stories for others to witness and understand.

‘I’m Here to Save Myself’ dives into Christa David’s emotional and physical odyssey, examining the enigma of solitude, especially poignant during the 2019 global crisis. It deals with people and time, but what truly matters? It’s a thoughtful study of our changing or vanishing world, where urgency prevails despite our recent lessons in slowing down.

193 Gallery, founded in 2018, focuses on art, encounters, and discovery. Located in Paris, the gallery offers diverse and authentic art experiences, embracing local art scenes and fostering collaboration through conferences and events.
