South London Gallery presents ‘Lagos, Peckham, Repeat: Pilgrimage to the Lakes’, a group exhibition co-curated by Folakunle Oshun, founder and director of the Lagos Biennial, together with the gallery, on display until October 29th.
The ‘Lagos, Peckham, Repeat: Pilgrimage to the Lakes’ exhibition highlights the connections between Lagos, Nigeria and Peckham, southeast London, such as the history, community bonds, culture, and art. The exhibition features works from thirteen Nigerian and British artists, showcasing diverse mediums like sculpture, photography, sound, and film. The exhibition includes new commissions, an installation, and a partnership with Orbit, a local brewery. Additionally, the exhibition features works produced during artist residencies in Lagos and Peckham, aiming to foster ongoing creative collaboration between the two communities.
Artists showing works in this exhibition include: Abdulrazaq Awofeso, Seyi Adelekun, Chiizii, Ndidi Dike, Victor Ehikhamenor, Onyeka Igwe, Lagos Studio Archives, Adeyemi Michael, Christopher Obuh, Emeka Ogboh, Temitayo Ogunbiyi, Temitayo Shonibare, and Yinka Shonibare.
South London Gallery showcases British and international artists, showcasing their latest creations. Collective exhibitions unite well-known and emerging artists, while a continuous residency program allows artists to cultivate new pieces and display them at the gallery.
