We will start with Kunlé Adeyemi (Nigeria, 1976).

Kunlé Adeyemi is an internationally recognized architect, designer, and development researcher. He founded NLÉ in 2010 to innovate cities and communities. Adeyemi’s notable works include the Makoko Floating School, a prototype floating structure in Lagos, Nigeria, and the Makoko Floating System (MFSTM), a prefabricated building solution for water developments deployed in five countries across three continents. NLÉ’s work explores the intersections of rapid urbanization and climate change. Adeyemi has worked with Rem Koolhaas at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) and is an international speaker and thought leader. He holds an honorary doctorate degree in Architecture from Hasselt University and a certificate in Real Estate Economics and Finance from the London School of Economics.

Kunlé Adeyemi is an academic with a background in architecture and urbanism. He has held positions at Princeton University School of Architecture, Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Cornell University, and the University of Washington. Adeyemi’s main focus is on developing cities of the global south, with a post-professional degree from Princeton University. His hypothesis, ‘Urban Crawl’, critically examines architecture and urbanism in emerging megacities, unraveling complex urban conditions and mechanisms. Adeyemi has spoken and acted as a visiting critic at prestigious institutions.

Adeyemi’s architectural, creative design, and urbanism practice focuses on bridging infrastructure and urban development gaps in Africa, developing regions, and complex urban environments. He has designed furniture and explored social and cultural possibilities in urbanism.
