1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair is returning to Marrakech for its 5th edition, scheduled to take place at La Mamounia and a new location, DaDa Marrakech, from 8 to 11 February.

The 2024 Marrakech edition will be the largest yet, hosting 27 exhibitors, 14 galleries from the African continent, with eight of them located in Morocco. The significant growth of this edition highlights the fair’s achievements and reflects a strong commitment to Morocco’s art scene. Marrakech, with its dynamic creative energy fueled by artists, galleries, and institutions, serves as an ideal host for the fair, reinforcing the city’s artistic prominence.

The exhibitors’ list includes 193 Gallery, AFIKARIS, African Arty, CDA Gallery, Christophe Person, Galerie 208, Galerie Atiss Dakar, Galerie Carole Kvasnevski, Galerie SINIYA28, Gallery 1957, Katharina Maria Raab, kó, L’Atelier 21, La Galerie 38, Loft Art Gallery, M CONCEPT Gallery, Myriem Himmich Gallery, Nil Gallery, Portas Vilaseca Galeria, Primo Marella Gallery, Reiners Contemporary Art, Retro Africa, Revie Projects, So Art Gallery, The African Art Hub (TAAH), The Bridge Gallery, and THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE.

Abdoulaye Konaté, Amoako Boafo, Barthélémy Toguo, Ghizlane Sahli, Hamid Nii Nortey, Mohamed El baz, Mohamed Lekleti, Moustapha Baïdi Oumarou, M’barek Bouhchichi, Rita Mawuena Benissan, Soly Cissé, and Zanele Muholi are some of the artists featured.

WAAU will be present at this edition of the art fair in Marrakech, repeating last year’s presence.

1-54, founded in 2013, is the first international fair dedicated to contemporary African art, featuring three annual editions in London, New York, and Marrakech, as well as a pop-up fair in Paris, promoting diverse perspectives and featuring international galleries.
