193 Gallery presents ‘La Mémoire du Monde’, by Hyacinthe Ouattara, on display until February 24th.
Hyacinthe Ouattara, born in 1981, in Burkina Faso, is an artist who explores connections and poetic forms through his work. Drawing from ancestral raw materials, personal memories, and liminal spaces, he embarks on a temporal journey, capturing moments between reality and spirituality. His art resonates with Edouard Glissant’s writings and reflects the art brut style he observed in Burkina Faso. Ouattara’s fabric work represents a liberating evolution of material, symbolized by threads, and emphasizes movement through space. His work engages in a poetic dialogue with his environment, weaving a human constellation free of judgment or confines. His work is a tapestry of historical narratives, forming a poetic network.
His exhibition, “La Mémoire du Monde,” features “Les Battements Cardiaques de la Terre,” a project from Diébougou in 2023. The exhibition is a journey through Ouattara’s rich universe, featuring a collection of series linked by memories embedded in materials.
193 Gallery, established in 2018, combines art, travel, and discovery, showcasing contemporary art from diverse cultures and countries, avoiding clichés and showcasing promising artists.
