The architect in focus for the month of February is Ibrahim Greenidge
Ibrahim Greenidge, a renowned architect, began his lifelong exploration of space and architecture during his childhood, influenced by the Crown Heights Riots. His interest in model building and hands-on experience with his grandfather set the stage for his future career. Today, Greenidge leads BOLT Architecture in Brooklyn, a firm dedicated to transforming spaces and fostering innovation and creativity. He compares the process of turning an idea into a tangible reality to the miracle of childbirth. Greenidge is also committed to mentoring and inspiring the next generation, particularly young people of color.
He balances his time between family, community activities, and mentoring aspiring architects to cultivate a future where diverse individuals actively shape our environments. One of his significant achievements is completing the Architecture Registration Examination (ARE) and Intern Development Program (IDP), thanks to mentorship from nycoba NOMA, an organization he joined in 2009 and later became a board member of.
