LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery presents ‘Synthèse’, by Oumar BALL, on display until March 9th.
Oumar BALL, a 38-year-old painter and sculptor from Mauritania, is showcasing his artistic endeavor in Côte d’Ivoire. His intricate intertwining of wires, metal, and enameled basins creates rhythm and volume in his canvases. BALL’s work is a deliberate amalgamation of iron and canvas, with a mural depicting his landscapes inspired by the Senegal River’s banks and the Sahara’s sands. The medium of charcoal, coal, and nature’s simplicity create iron thread-like tentacles that fill the space, creating a “carnival of animals” that transitions from two to three dimensions.
This work is an expression of a still youthful man concerned for the future of our frenzied world, restoring beauty to the insignificant remains of our lives. BALL’s work beckons and draws us into his realm, allowing us to explore his realm and not forgo the opportunity to emerge unaltered.
LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery promotes artists, new techniques, and diverse aesthetics in Abidjan, attracting a diverse public of all ages and cultures.
