Art Paris 2024, the 26th edition of the art fair, will take place at the Grand Palais Éphémère. The event will feature 136 galleries from 25 countries, with 60% French and 40% international participants. The event will also feature two themed exhibitions, “Fragile Utopias: A Focus on the French Scene” by Éric de Chassey and “Art and Craft” curated by Nicolas Trembley. The fair will showcase a wide range of subjects, highlighting Paris’s role in the global art market and cultural resurgence.

Souad Abdelrassoul, born in 1974 in Cairo, creates a diverse art style that blends abstract and representational styles, incorporating human, animal, and botanical elements to highlight our connection to nature. Her paintings often depict tree-like beings, symbolizing the relationship between our internal existence and the environment. Abdelrassoul uses a surrealist approach to celebrate femininity and emotionality, focusing on the contemporary woman’s journey through male-dominated society. Her work challenges societal roles of women through myth and legend, offering a fresh perspective on their resilience.

Sujay Shah, a Kenyan artist, critically examines the fusion of cultural ideologies, myths, and historical narratives, particularly the enduring shadows cast by colonial legacies. His recent paintings explore the complex and often grim legacies of colonialism, particularly through big game trophy hunting. Shah skillfully juxtaposes acts of violence with symbols of opulence, questioning civility and incorporating elements of horror, humor, and surrealism. His work challenges the viewer by presenting exasperated animals and highlighting the constructed, exoticized, and stereotypical perceptions of Africa in contemporary society.

Circle Art, founded in Nairobi in 2012, promotes East African artists and cultivates a local collector base. In 2015, Circle Art opened Nairobi’s first white cube space and has since developed a significant art management and training program.
