CCA Lagos presents ‘Passengers in Transit’ at La Biennale di Venezia, featuring five female artists of African descent from Africa, the Caribbean, and the USA.
The exhibition explores themes of alienation, identity, and belonging within the global community, inspired by José Eduardo Agualusa’s book.
Featuring April Bey, Christa David, Euridice Zaituna Kala, Joana Choumali, and Thandiwe Muriu, this exhibit explores identity, gender, and memory through diverse artistic practices. Their work encourages reflection on the experiences of black individuals and promotes a broader understanding of diverse perspectives, enriched by philosophical thought.
‘Passengers in Transit’ is a cultural event in Venice, featuring art and the late Bisi Silva, at the Ex-Farmacia Solveni. The event honors the late artist through the Àsikò Art School, a Pan-African initiative that nurtures African artists and curators.
The event showcases the Àsikò Art School’s hybrid, multidisciplinary approach through exhibitions, a curated library, and talks. ‘Passengers in Transit’ aims to connect cultural, political, economic, and societal leaders, fostering conversations about foreignness, identity, and belonging.
CCA Lagos’ presence in Venice challenges conventional exhibition norms and promises a memorable and impactful experience.
