Solomon and Mujunga share a deep connection with nature, influencing and unifying their work. They live in African metropolises where finding tranquility and pristine natural settings can be challenging. Their art prompts us to consider our role in environmental conservation in today’s era of individualism and urgent ecological concerns.

Both artists demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a meditative approach to their chosen materials. Mujunga uses oil paints to craft realistic portraits and partially abstract scenes, highlighting our dependency on healthy ecosystems. Solomon creates complex tapestries through knotting, stitching, and punching textiles, exploring themes of human interconnectedness and environmental respect.

Their works urge viewers to recognize our interdependence with nature and foster a collective commitment to preserving our environment for shared and individual prosperity. Solomon’s pieces in Taipei emphasize unity and resilience, urging us to maintain these bonds over time and face challenges together.

Afriart Gallery, founded in Kampala in 2002, is an international contemporary art hub representing artists from Africa, promoting originality, engagement, and mentorship for emerging talents.
