The Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art presents ‘Stronger Together,’ the latest exhibition by Cameroonian artist Barthélémy Toguo, on display until August 29th.
Barthélémy Toguo’s work, inspired by his surroundings and diverse cultures, combines traditional Moroccan artisanship with contemporary global art themes. Toguo is known for his provocative, politically charged art, often contemplating the migrant experience and the complexities of cultural integration while preserving personal heritage. He plans to establish a Contemporary Art Museum in Cameroon and support African artists internationally.
‘Stronger Together’ merges Moroccan geometric patterns with vibrant life-affirming elements, showcasing Toguo’s unique artistic voice. The exhibition features two-tone compositions that emphasize visual contrasts, enhancing the impact of the pieces. Inspired by his residency at the museum, it showcases a variety of creative themes and provides visitors with a unique opportunity to see Moroccan ceramic art through Toguo’s innovative lens.
The exhibition is co-curated by Androula Michael, a contemporary art historian and professor at Université de Picardie Jules Verne, and Abdelaziz El Idrissi, the director of the Mohammed VI Museum.
