Nigerian self-taught artist Ekene Stanley Emecheta, born in 1994, divides his time between London and Nigeria, teaching art in China. He primarily creates figurative works using oil and acrylic on canvas, exploring themes of human energy, personality, and identity. His solo exhibition “Truthful Waters” in Athens received acclaim in Frieze Magazine. His art is featured in prestigious collections and showcased at art fairs like Art Basel, Frieze London, The Armory Show, Frieze LA, FIAC, and Félix Art Fair.
The artist explores the lessons imparted by life through his oil and acrylic paintings, capturing the essence of humanity and encouraging personal identity contemplation. Emecheta challenges traditional views on skin color by painting his figures predominantly in white, urging viewers to consider the soul’s universal nature.
