Galerie Cécile Fakhoury Paris presents a group exhibition titled ‘Apparitions,’ featuring works by artists such as Assoukrou Aké, Jess Atieno, Dalila Dalléas Bouzar, Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux, François-Xavier Gbré, Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien, and Roméo Mivekannin. On display until September 14th.
Aké’s work combines various artistic mediums to create a healing narrative, reflecting the social, medical, and political history of Africa. Atieno’s work explores the idea of place and belonging, incorporating archival images and documents to explore dispossession. Dalléas Bouzar’s work explores the role of the painter and the history of art, focusing on Algerian historical violence. Deloumeaux’s visual narrative blends personal anecdotes with global chronicles, inviting viewers into private, nostalgic realms.
Gbré’s work explores memory and societal shifts through architecture and landscape, revealing a world in transition within environments shaped by history and contemporaneity. Manlanbien’s artworks, like puzzles or mazes, construct new landscapes themed around femininity, identity, and the body. Mivekannin’s work merges traditional heritage with modernity, drawing inspiration from Beninese voodoo cosmology.
The exhibition aims to engage visitors and alter their perceptions of the world through the emergence of emotions, physicality, and spiritual elements.
