We had the pleasure of interviewing the artist Fidel Évora. In a cozy and familiar conversation, we discussed the artist’s background, career path, the artistic languages used in his practice, and the project the artist has been developing with The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation “Lugar Infinito”.
Fidel Évora (b.1984, Cape Verde) lives and works in Portugal. The artist holds a Master’s Degree in Motion Graphics from BAU – College of Arts & Design Barcelona, having worked as a graphic designer between 2004 and 2010. Évora constructs works positioned amid reality and fiction, using various materials, such as silk, to express his practice. His work has been part of solo and group exhibitions, including WAAU’s first exhibition ‘World African Artists United’ that took place this year in Lisbon. His work has also been featured in the exhibition “Interferences” at MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology.
We wish to express our gratitude to Fidel Évora for accepting our invitation and contributing for an exceptionally rewarding conversation with WAAU.
This interview has been the result of a collaboration with MOVART.
