ELLEPHANT Gallery takes part in the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in Marrakech, one of the leading international platforms for African and diasporic art.
The gallery will present two large scale drawings by Stanley Wany, ‘Cosmogonie’ and ‘Bakulu’, both realised in 2025. These works reflect Wany’s ongoing exploration of unconventional materials, notably coffee and sugar cane, which are integral to his visual language. Through these pieces, his Haitian Canadian perspective enters into dialogue with wider African and diasporic artistic practices.
As the only gallery from Quebec and Canada participating this year, ELLEPHANT contributes to a broader exchange of contemporary narratives. Wany’s practice re-examines colonial archives to reconstruct Afro descendant histories, engaging myth, creolisation and the subconscious across drawing, painting, and installation.
