AFIKARIS Gallery presents ‘The Softer Side Of Us’ by Richard Mensah, on display from April 21 to May 20.
Richard Mensah is a British Ghanaian London based artist who works with and paints in different media. The artist has an intuitive style that draws inspiration from his African heritage, childhood memories, and daily life. His creations are characterised by bold colours that blend abstract and realistic styles, evoking various emotions. He is fascinated by shapes, movement, and light and shadows, which he tries to capture in his art.
The exhibition ‘The Softer Side Of Us’ is a commemoration of the diverse black community throughout various periods and locations in the United States, United Kingdom, and Ghana. Its purpose is to display the multifaceted nature of the black experience, emphasizing instances of recreation and other glimpses into ordinary life.
Located in Montreuil (in the Paris suburb), the AFIKARIS Residency is a place dedicated to the creation, at the disposal of the artists working with the gallery or who wish to develop a project for a future presentation with the gallery.
