For its first participation in Art Antwerp, AFIKARIS Gallery is thrilled to present a solo show by Saïdou Dicko.
At the heart of Dicko’s work is a desire to share the wonder and emotional resonance of a childhood closely connected to the land. His visual world, inhabited by children, animals, and flowers, is anchored by his distinctive use of black-ink silhouettes. These shadow-like figures strip away markers of identity, inviting viewers to project themselves into the scene and to encounter the work on a universal level.
The life experiences of Saïdou Dicko, between Paris and Burkina Faso, his native culture and his travels, leave their mark on his work with poetry as well as mystery.
