Imvelo Studios, joining 1-54 Marrakech in 2026, was established in 2022 as an artist-driven initiative serving as a project space, exhibition and research centre, cultural archive, and artist residency. Its primary objective is to nurture the growth and development of Zambia’s contemporary art scene by providing a platform for both local and international artists.

Originally conceptualized as a studio space, Imvelo Studios takes inspiration from its natural surroundings, offering artists a refuge from city life. This unique approach enables the creation of a versatile environment for art production and exhibition, providing artists with the freedom to explore and expand their ideas. Imvelo Studios also offers artist residencies, enabling artists to focus on producing a body of work or developing their practice within a specific, context-based exhibition. The centre acknowledges the vital role artists play in supporting the regional cultural scene and in bridging the gap between older and younger generations of artists.
