MACAAL is pleased to present The Water Cabinet, a four-channel film installation by artist duo Hanakam & Schuller, created in collaboration with curator Stella Reinhold-Rudas and Anima Garden.

Developed in response to the severe drought in Morocco in 2022, the project explores water as an ecological, political and symbolic element. Filmed within the dreamlike setting of Anima Garden, it gives voice to gardeners and technicians who reflect on their daily work, revealing how care, heritage and resilience shape the hidden life of gardens.

Filmed amid a landscape affected by the nearby dried-up Ourika River, the work questions power dynamics behind access to water and highlights gardens as sites where nature, knowledge and myth intersect.
